Spirit Catholic Radio Unveils Sacred Heart Billboard Campaign to Share Christ’s Love Across Nebraska

OMAHA, NE (May 16, 2025) – This June, if you’re driving along Interstate 80 or spending time in Lincoln or Omaha, you may notice something new—a series of billboards featuring the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It’s part of a listener-led effort made up of Spirit Catholic Radio listeners, created to share a message of love, hope, and faith with everyone who passes by. “This campaign came straight from the hearts of our listeners,” said Jim Carroll, Executive Director of Spirit Catholic Radio. “They had the desire to share Christ’s love more publicly, and they made it happen through prayer and generous support.”

For Catholics, each month of the year is dedicated to a specific devotion, mystery of the faith, or saint, which serves as a way to focus prayer and reflection on particular aspects of the Church’s teachings. June is devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Sacred Heart is a symbol of God’s love—especially the love that Jesus has for each and every one of us. It’s depicted as a heart on fire, pierced and surrounded by a crown of thorns. For Christians, this image represents Jesus’ deep compassion, His suffering, and His willingness to love us no matter where we are in life. And for anyone—no matter your faith background—it’s a powerful visual reminder that God’s mercy and unconditional love is real, and it’s meant for you.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus goes back centuries. It’s rooted in the Christian belief that God’s love isn’t abstract—it’s personal. Saints like St. Gertrude the Great and St. Margaret Mary Alacoque had deep spiritual experiences centered on this love, often describing the Heart of Jesus as a source of peace, mercy, and transformation. Today, the Sacred Heart continues to be a sign of comfort and strength for millions around the world.

The billboards will be visible throughout the month of June in high-traffic areas like I-80 and in the Omaha and Lincoln metro areas. Whether commuting to work, traveling for summer vacations, or simply running errands, thousands will see these billboards daily, each one offering an opportunity for reflection and spiritual inspiration. The welcoming design invites viewers to pause for a moment and reflect—whether that’s a quiet prayer, a moment of gratitude, or even just considering what unconditional love might look like in your life.

“We hope these billboards spark curiosity,” said Jim Carroll. “Even if someone isn’t familiar with the Sacred Heart, we want them to know: this love is for you, too.”
