S.T.A.G.E. Student Theatre presents two musical productions in January at St. Teresa’s Kaczmarek Hall, 36th and Randolph Streets, in Lincoln. The Merchant of Tennis is a musical parody of Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice, with a tennis theme that teaches the lesson Love-Love of Neighbor. Performed by students 9 thru 16 years. Jonah and the Big Sale is shorter production with students ages 8-11 years. Set in Ninevay’s Department store, a young Jonah hears the voice of God but runs away only to be swallowed by a Whale of a Sale. Later he finds the courage to speak to the people about materialism and the need to turn to God. Both productions take place in a creative theater space where audience members can interact. Colorful costumes, along with dance and music make both of these shows family friendly and a delight to see. Showtimes for Jonah and the Big Sale are: Jan. 19-20 at 6pm, along with a 2pm matinee on Sunday Jan. 21. The Merchant of Tennis has showings on Jan.19, 20, 26, 27 at 8pm, along with matinees on Jan.21-28 at 4pm. Reserved tickets are available at stage4kids.com under TICKETS.
