When Jesus began his public ministry, he went into the synagogue to preach (Lk. 4:16). Luke describes how Jesus, in his very first public sermon, boldly defined and asserted his healing mission. Chosen, Healed, Sent is a parish mission that can gently pry open the effects caused by broken hearts, broken lives, broken relationships, and broken dreams and allow the light of Christ to be brought into a moment of darkness so healing can begin. Jesus desires to set people free from the wounds and scars of the past and their effects – the pain of abandonment, betrayal, loneliness, anxiety, and fear. He heals by filling in the gaps between the love needed and the love received.
