Blessed Maria Pierina de Micheli (Congregation of the Daughters of the Immaculate Conception), received visions from Jesus asking her to spread devotion to his Holy Face on Shrove Tuesday. In 1958, Pope Pius XII approved the Feast of the Holy Face of Jesus on Shrove Tuesday – – the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. The feast day is preceded by a novena, a nine-day period of prayer beginning on February 23rd. Celebrant: Fr.
