Even the Pope Loves Catholic Radio

On the anniversary of his priestly ordination, Pope Leo XIV paid a special visit to the Vatican Radio transmission center near Rome—a rare and meaningful gesture that hasn’t happened since 1991. He toured the facility, greeted staff, and expressed deep appreciation for their work, especially their dedication to spreading the Gospel to remote places “where few broadcasters are able to go.”

The Pope was clearly moved by the power of Catholic radio to reach hearts across the globe—just as he experienced firsthand during his time in Latin America and Africa, when Vatican Radio helped him stay spiritually connected despite being far from Rome.

His visit highlights how vital and impactful Catholic radio ministry truly is. And here at Spirit Catholic Radio, we couldn’t help but smile—because the mission we share is just as meaningful. We, too, are reaching the unreachable, lifting souls, and sharing Christ’s love over the airwaves with the same fidelity and heart that impressed the Pope himself.

Next stop – the Spirit Catholic Radio studios in Omaha, perhaps?
