The Eucharistic Encounter is a diocesan event to celebrate and deepen our Faith in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist through Adoration, Eucharistic piety, dynamic teaching, powerful sacred music, and exposure to local apostolates and ministries. The gathering will highlight Blessed Carlo Acutis, creator of the Vatican International Exposition, Eucharistic Miracles of the World, which will be on display. Fr. Malachy Joseph Napier, CFR – Biography
Fr Malachy was born in Augusta, GA in 1982. He is the second of eight children in his family,

charismatic community called the Alleluia Community. In his adolescence and early college
years he rejected his faith until the Lord called him unexpectedly to the priesthood and he
experienced a grace of reconversion through an encounter with the love of Jesus Christ through
confession. After finishing his university studies, he joined the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal
in 2008. In the course of his religious life he has served both in the US and also the foreign
missions the CFR’s have in Nicaragua. He was ordained to the priesthood as a “pandemic” priest
on May 30th , 2020 in Newark, NJ. He returned in the fall of 2022 from serving in Nicaragua and
is now living at St. Crsipin’s friary in the south Bronx, NY. He works with the homeless at St.
Anthony’s Shelter for Renewal and is also one of the Eucharistic Preachers for the National

Only 30% of Catholics believe that the Eucharist is the Real Presence of Jesus.
This, combined with the strain put on Mass attendance during the COVID pandemic have led Church leaders to develop inspiration and understanding on the need to refocus and rediscover the importance of Eucharistic worship as the Bread of Life. In 2021, the U.S. bishops announced a Eucharistic Revival initiative – three years of prayer, pilgrimage and worship beginning June of 2022 and lasting through July of 2024 with a special Eucharistic conference to be held in Indianapolis July 17-21, 2024.
