Fall Care-A-Thon 2014 (6:30 am)
YOU CAN HELP OTHERS ENCOUNTER JESUS.

A man sits alone in his car, contemplating suicide. He turns the dial of his radio and hears a voice that offers hope--the voice of a priest.

A young woman restlessly searches for a radio station on her drive home. A channel stands out to her because it sounds "different." What she hears is the daily mass. A former Catholic, she hasn't attended mass in years. Now, she feels a longing to return.

Spirit Catholic Radio hears stories like these almost daily. Stories of individuals, families, couples and youth who heard what they needed to hear, just when they needed to hear it. The Fall Care-a-thon is coming up September 15 through 19, and with your help, we can help others encounter Jesus through the radio airwaves.

The radio network reaches both Catholics and non-Catholics in Omaha, Lincoln, Columbus, Council Bluffs and western Iowa, Norfolk, Hartington and northeast Nebraska, Grand Island, Hastings, Kearney, North Platte, central west-central Nebraska and Chadron.

SPIRIT CATHOLIC RADIO IS MORE THAN A RADIO STATION

As a non-profit apostolate, our mission is to bring Christ to people and people to Christ and we are blessed with a radio network that reaches nearly 1.5 million people in Nebraska and Iowa and also parts of South Dakota, Missouri and Kansas, that allows us to do just that. We hope to help others encounter Jesus!

WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU

Spirit Catholic Radio is listener-funded. We are your Catholic radio station. While the four dioceses we serve are greatly supportive of our mission, we ask for no funding from them. We rely on the generosity of our listeners and business underwriters to keep Catholic radio on the air in the heartland.

Candlelight Ecumenical Prayer Service For The Children Crossing The Borders - Cristo Rey, Lincoln (8:00 am - 9:00 am)

Churches from the Lincoln area are gathering to pray for the safety of children crossing the border alone.

Over the past few months we have heard about the tragic situation with children crossing the borders south of us.

Central American children from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras are migrating alone to the United States in record numbers.

Many face violence back in their home countries and flee with hope for something more.

On their way north they face the added threats of human traffickers, treacherous terrain, exploitation, and even death.

The humanitarian and policy oriented aspects of this situation cause many to advocate on behalf of the protection of these migrant children.

We as a Christian community are called to unite on behalf of these children through prayers and other acts of solidarity.

Location: Cristo Rey Catholic Church

4221 J Street

Lincoln, NE
