Celebrating Life's Transition To Adulthood - St. Margaret Mary, Omaha (7:00 pm - 8:30 pm)

Celebrating Life’s Transition to adulthood: Mother/Daughter and Father/Son programs which explore God's special gift of human fertility and the beauty and wonder of growing up and becoming an adult. The purpose of this program for 5th grade students is to provide an atmosphere of love and learning to discuss the important topic of growing up and to establish a foundation for continued communication between parent and child. The programs are presented by Couple to Couple League members and emphasize respect, understanding and appreciation for God's gifts.

Topics include  ?the changes in the adolescent body as it prepares for adulthood  ?the functions of the human reproductive system  ?respect and reverence for our sexuality  ?the virtue of chastity  ?the sacredness of human life

Dates:  Mother/Daughter only Thursday, April 27, 2017 at St. Margaret Mary School from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.  Father/Son only Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at St. Margaret Mary School from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.

Mother/Daughter and Father/Son Programs. Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at St. Patrick School from 7:00 to 8:30pm

Cost: $10 per family

DCCW Spring Assembly - Halsey, NE (8:00 am - 9:00 am)

The Grand Island Diocesan Council of Catholic Women are holding their Spring Assembly at the 4H camp in the beautiful forest at Halsey NE

on April 28th & 29th, 2017.

Keynote Speaker, Sister Lucy Lukasiewicz from Amarillo Diocese of TX will focus on vocations and forgiveness.  

Heather Hruby and Lisa Pearson from Omaha will speak about Rachel's Vineyard project.

Opening Mass with Bishop Joseph Hanefeldt.

Cost of the weekend is $90 or $50 for one day.

Cathedral Of The Risen Christ Spring Fling - Lincoln (11:30 am - 3:00 pm)

 

The 1st Annual Cathedral of the Risen Christ Spring Fling is set for April 30th from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the church basement, school playground and gym.  

 

Something for everyone - carnival games, inflatables, music, cake walk, concessions, BINGO, free-will lunch served by the Knights of

 

Columbus & more! Cathedral of the Risen Christ is located at 3500 Sheridan Blvd.

Pro-Life Education Series - St. Patrick, Lincoln (7:00 pm - 8:30 pm)

Fr. Sean Kilcawley: speaker Sunday, April 30, 7 pm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 6126 Morrill Ave., Lincoln.

Title of presentation: "Gospel of the Family: Protecting the Light of Christ"

Father is Director of Family Life in Lincoln Diocese.  He's a nationally recognized speaker on Theology of the Body, human love and pornography addiction.  In addition to his talk on the family, he will address ways to fight pornography. Father's talk is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC -- NO CHARGE  His talk will be in Finigan Hall.

The use of porn is pervasive in our society. In one survey 63% of men and 23% of women ages 18-30 reported they view pornography several times a week. Some studies suggest children as young as 8 are being exposed to porn. (Matt Fradd, author of "The Porn Myth.")
