Parish Secretaries’ One-Day Retreat - Schuyler (9:30 am - 3:00 pm)

Parish Secretaries’ One-Day Retreat

Thursday, April 18, 2017, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Parish secretaries are the Church’s flagship ministry.  They are the voice and face people encounter when they come to the parish office.  Treat your secretary during this Administrative Assistants’ Week with a REALLY special gift, a day away with pampering, artful pausing, prayer, sharing, quiet time and lunch … all designed for parish secretaries.

Sister Kathleen Courtney, OSB, a Benedictine Sister from Sacred Heart Monastery, Yankton, SD, has been in full-time retreat work for over fifteen years. She assists people in practical, creative ways to find God in prayer and work, in gracious hospitality and in the nooks and crannies of daily living.

Sister Marietta Kerkvliet, OSB, is a Benedictine Sister from Sacred Heart Monastery in Yankton SD. Her Bachelor Degree is in Elementary Education and her Master’s in Religious Education. She is a certified spiritual director. She served as a DRE at St. John Vianney Parish in Omaha for 9 years before being called home to minister at the monastery as liturgist and postulant director. She especially enjoys balancing play with her work and prayer.

$ 40 (includes lunch)

Jesus: The Image Of God's Mercy - Schuyler (All Day)

April 22, 2017

This retreat will be an encounter with Jesus who is “the face of the Father’s mercy” (Pope Francis). Jesus gives God a human face. In Him and through Him, God raises us up, frees us, redeems us, forgives us, and gives us breadth, freedom and love. Who is Jesus for you? Is He your model who shows you how to live? Does He show you the Divine reality in your own heart and in the people around you? Is He your companion even in humanly challenging situations of your day-to-day living who opens you up to love, mercy and gentleness? This day will enliven and deepen your relationship with Him.

Father Anselm Gruen, OSB, Ph.D., a Benedictine monk of Muensterschwarzach Abbey, Germany, and a spiritual counselor and advisor, sought-after speaker and retreat master, is widely respected for his ability to present classic Christian spirituality in a modern context. His many books, among them, Images of Jesus (Continuum 2002) and Everybody Has an Angel (Crossroad 2000), have become international bestsellers (300 titles available and 18 million copies sold worldwide). He will come to us from Germany for this special event. $ 35
